Huge Cock Surprises Glebe!

Pensioner Jim Hughes is very proud, and it’s easy to see why.

While his wife has been on holiday he’s unveiled his giant cock and it’s become something of a tourist attraction.

He’s even given it a name – Nobby.

Jim, 70, trimmed his bush and has even adorned its head with a red comb in handy work that took less than half an hour to create. Underneath, it’s actually an ivy-covered tree and stands at 14ft tall at the end of his garden in Glebe, Washington.

He said: ‘It’s in the front garden and looks out into the street. Since then, quite a few people have been stopping to take photographs. ‘I call it Nobby, and it’s clucking for attention.’

His wife Moira, 71, said: ‘Well, I was away on holiday and when I came back he was very pleased with himself. It's been a while since it has stood so proudly. I knew he was trying to make something happen, let's hope it can keep going. ‘People keep stopping to look at it. Quite a few have passed comment and they think it’s impressive. ‘I think we’ll keep it. People are always shocked when I tell them I have a 15 ft cock at home!’

As always the Washington Gazettes very own Scoops Mckenzie was on hand to capture people opinions. "Goodness, it's huge!" Blushed keen bush spectator Gladys Bigg, 64. Her friend Eileen Toward, 69 also commented: "I just had to touch it the girls at bingo are going to be so jealous."
